Honeyhoney

I always chuckle when I read MySpace genre listings. Sometimes, I get the impression that there is a competition among new bands to create the most outlandish combination in an attempt to inspire just enough curiosity to get a few extra "plays".In this case, HoneyHoney (not a typo - there is no space) is "Folk Rock / Jazz / Bluegrass", which admittedly sparked my interest. No full-length album yet, but an EP is available on iTunes. The songs are sometimes a bit half-baked, and it is pretty obvious that some pruning and additional effort would have to be done before a major label release, but I think the sound is pretty unique. The sound is reminiscent of the 20's style Jazz vocals, except the lyrics are a bit more crude in places (I originally wondered how a folk/rock album would earn a parental advisory). Sometimes the songs lean towards quirky, and I think "Little Toy Gun" is a great example with it's sampled fake gun that appears from time to time mixed into the background.Enjoy!
