To tell you the truth, I started to post this on Tuesday after I read Anna Log's great Television bit, but I got a bit sidetracked in looking for a pic. Too much exciting talent wasted and all that. But, for the moment, it ruined the mood. I think it was early '74 when the New York Dolls closed up the Blue Oyster Cult festival at Dayton, Ohio's Hara Arena. By the time they took the stage at 1:00 a.m. , there was maybe 200 people left in front of the stage. It took a lonngg time for the punk vibe to penetrate the land of Styx and Stones. I was in the front row, and we shared champagne with Johannsen and co. as they blazed a hot set. Thunders was a wild man, looking and playing every bit like Keith Richard's illegit offspring. I don't think he ever stopped.
