The Great Collapse

Posted 4 months ago

"Free what you love 'cause it's gonna die anyway..."

Unless I'm missing something (which has, of course, never happened), I see no mention of The Zolas on MOG - so here they are:

The Great Collapse

without mentioning histoical piano balladeers or more recent keyboard focus combos, i'll leave you to form your own attachments. Their "Tic Toc Tic" set cover is an intriguing piece of artistic coinage:

Pyramid Scheme

true, there's not neccesarily anything groundbreaking in this grouping, [...and then, at ruffly the 2:00 mark we start a rather awkward, initially spoken, bridge that that builds on a children's rhyme and eventually leads to the potenially toxic..."AND THEN HE KNOCKED ME OOOUUUUUTTTTTTT"...hhmmm]

move this post to Tuesday if you like, but don't be too surprised if some of these tunes pop up next time you're hanging around Starbucks....and don't forget to tip the Cab Driver.

"...it's enough just to say "I knew you well"..."

Another "Zola" ! (this one with an "s")

Up until now - the only Zola in my life was this:

At times they remind me of the band Spoon. I'm a pop oriented guy, so I liked the album.

Below is my fav song from the album.

To be fair to scott here - that posting of yours is two years old - went completely uncommented on - and you yourself seem to lose interest in it - failing to even complete your info copying (pointing instead to a link to wrap it up ;-)  )

Could that one even be searched for here at MOG?

Also - curious as to how many views you've gotten on it? Since only you - (and one would assume the MOG button controllers) have access to those stats.

    Do tell ;-)

Well Dave, in some ways I prefer your Zola to mine...additionally, your Zola brought to mind another of my guilty pleasures:

    WARNING:POPJUMP!!

Well, I never Dash! That's not the first time this has happened (sic:Gotye). I searched, I swear - check your tagging :) Time to start doling out the awards I suppose...here ya go!

Ah - Donna Lewis - now added to my "guilty pleasures"

Oh, and I'm taking a copy of that "award" you present above.  ;-)

Yeah - if MOG doesn't have the music of the artist themselves (or the poster doesn't add it at the space provided in the beginning up there - and since neither of you do - MOG must not have any) - it doesn't "link" to the page that lists features done about the artist.  Most likely those artists don't even have a feature page.

This Zola is obviously talented but nothing really too ear catching, although I do like that last song.

I do however ADORE Zola Jesus. Her latest album is just amazing & it's been on my mp3 player since it leaked. Such a stunning voice! And I also have a Donna Lewis album too but just one, I think it is her debut which was good.

When MOG fails to have an artist, it's a good chance Spotify will.

If an artist/release/specific song is not on MOG, just type a quick e-mail to catalog@mog.com to request it.  I've had really good response from the catalog team.

"Sea Talk" by Zola Jesus is her finest moment.  I've heard other tracks by her - and none of them reach the same emotional zenith.  If someone can produce evidence contrary to what I say, I'd love to hear it.

Well thanks for bringing them (The Zolas-Zulus...and Zola Jesus) to my attention, Scot and Dave....

I'd have to listen to more of both to have a better idea, but my initial impression is very good!

And some things don't need to be groundbreaking to be great!

    No problemo, andrea !

OK - here's something that may not be "groundbreaking" either - but could have redeeming social value, nevertheless ;-)
