WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Love a Surprise

Posted about 1 year ago

Well, it's the geek kind, but what the hey. Starting the long holiday weekend watching some movies. Surprisingly, "Dragon Wars" has much more to offer than the modern day smash and burn I suspecte it would be. The first quarter of the movie weaves an ancient oriental dragon legend to life, and completes it with a massive RPG like evil army attack that features the rocket-launchers mounted on the backs of giant toad-lizards. A nicely done sequence from upstarts Showbox and Freestyle Releasing. Jump forward to present day and let the story relive itself. don't wanna spoil it. Rent it. And, on your way, let Dirty Vegas lull you with their funky warning.

Or Not...

the rest of this movie is like somebody gave Roger Corman an expense budget 10X anything he ever knew. The moments of good graphics are all they could afford by this point. There's gotta be a montage on youtube...

there...I just saved you an hour or so and a few bucks to boot.

Still, wooden performances aside, this wound up in the player again on T-day. Worth hanging on for the final dragon-on-dragon battle. Damn that scriptwriter...

i'm trying to remember if i've seen it. i could have sworn i have but i seem unable to pull up any data from my brain's RAM so maybe a rent, or re-rent, is in order. it looks like something i'd really get into.

    oh, and, proper tunage!

it's just that, after the telling of the legend, the bar was set high - it could have been much better on the storyfront.

I don't listen to too much DIV, but that tune is golden!
