This is NOT a Poll / this is a Todd tribute

I Think You Know

Cody B is taking care of that. What this is, then, is my respect, admiration and endorsement of what - in my humble opinion, of course - may be the most complete and multi-faceted (American) artist that has graced our culture with his effort and talent...Todd Rundgren. Without getting into the whole rabid fan "Todd is god" debate, let me just ask you - who else has accumulated anything like his body of work? From solo artist to bandleader to producer to inventor, this multi-media creator/pioneer/innovator has been, like, everywhere for the last 4 decades. I could reiterate his accomplishments, but just go over to Mr. Wiki and check them out while you peruse these playlists.

A Dream Goes On Forever

The latest project tackled is some reinterpretations of Robert Johnson's work...I thought it was a joke when I saw the title - Todd Rundgren's Short Johnson!!

I am so down with you on this. Todd is so masterful at flying under the radar (intentionally or otherwise) that he often gets overlooked when the greats of popular music are mentioned.

The man is a gem, no doubt.

    Thanks for reminding us!

I own all of his releases, love Utopia even more, but find Todd a bit maddenly inconsistent. Great songwriter. But his vocals, when he gets into his faux-soul bits, and his lead guitar, when he departs from melody, can grate on these ears. Still, I agree with you overall.

Todd was the first person that came to mind when the "American Band" thread began.

Please don't forget his "scoring" work.....he dated Bebe Buell.

Always a good time for that Andrew!

Been with him a long time inrum...had that first Runt on 8trac...used to have the red vinyl NazzIII too :)

You don't like his rap stylings Mark? well, he is as bold an experimenter as he is a peanut butter'n'jelly comfort....something for everyone.

parenting skills too Robin, he raised Liv Tyler, eh?
