I have never been able to wrap my head around this cat..clearly a defect on my part or a problem I have with the lack of hours in a day.
Killer version,BTW.
When focused, he's really good. But, his improvisational odessys leave me either overwhelmed or unimpressed.
"Teasure Island" is a fantastic album, that I've gotta find on CD.
Do you even find "The Koln Concert" overwhelming or unimpressive? That's one CD I never tire of listening to...

For years I never listened to the solo records. I think I heard a part of one when I was too young to understand what it was and that was enough for me. I loved almost everything else he's done, but avoided the solo stuff like kryptonite. Then I happened to hear some of the Lausanne/Bremen album... Holy crap! If you ever want to rediscover Jarrett, start there.
