"Experimental punk"? "Noisy indie"? Whatever. The Mae Shi, hailing from Los Angeles CA, have been making these noises since 2002. A handful of cd's, a dvd, vids, hell - they even invented and marketed their own light-reactive synths. These guys mean business - their way.

What's it about? Their t-shirt logo says "I'm Glad You're Alive" and to quote their myspace:

It's about self-improvement and trying to live life at the top of your lungs, living life rightly, respecting others, making something you're proud of, and trying to sort out all the static and figuring out what matters."

I think theyve got it about right.
