  1. fistula spume says Good thing we can browse today's posts or I would've never seen this. I like the Sparks track. I don't have any of their music. I have a lot of related side project and things they've worked on but no actual Sparks. Got an album recommendation? Sweet Tom Tomorrow comic.

  2. dachmo says The more I listen to Sparks the more I've grown to like them. They definitely have enough great stuff to make a killer "best of" album. They've been recording together since 1970!

  3. Bartleby says Hahah, if Dr Who said it then it must be true. @Fistula: If I may, I would say: Why not try "Kimono My House" for a full taste of Sparks? I've been told their latest instalment is also worth a listen...

  4. scotfree says I've always been most fond of their first two - "Sparks" and "A Woofer in Tweeters Clothing", where they funtion most like a band. Agree with Michael on "Kimono..." as well as "Propaganda". They have just too much music for me to remember much more. Well, there is 1997's "Pagiarism" where they redid their own picks of their catalogue as lite electro-beat, orchestrated, acapella and just general weirdness. Come to think of it, Sam, you might just like that one best :) . From "Plagiarism", here's the same tune ("Amatuer Hour") done with Erasure . And just for Fistula, here's the acapella Propaganda

  6. fistula spume says Hey that's funny and it rhymes. I'm beginning to see there's a whole world of Sparks I need to get into. I think I'll start in the early years and work my way up.

  7. poebegone says i keep getting inspired by a lot of mog posts and the internet in general to really get into these guys but i keep putting it off. everything i've heard so far, i've liked, so i have no excuse. so i don't know. thanks for the umpteenth push, Scott, maybe i just need more me-time.

  8. scotfree says Waydutch, as I keep sayin' - where's Ross Perot when ya need him... I hadn't thought about pointing these guys out to you, but the more I think about it - it's right in line with a lot of stuff you post. Ilay, I'm not the biggest Sparks scholar as I've heard probably half of their material. There's none of their complete recordings I'm as fond of as that first one (hmm guess I said that above) I'm getting back at you - why, just this week Zeep, Sun Kil Moon, Of Montreal (by reference). These bags under my eyes aren't going anywhere soon ;)

  10. Bartleby says Scotfree says: "Uh, Michael, weren't you just chiding my comment akin to "aural pleasure"? Is that a pin in the voodoo doll, or a trend..? :)" If I ever criticise your use (or abuse) of "aural pleasure," I apologise because I support all types of

  12. Bartleby says It took me a while to remember but I think it's got something to do with a certain comment pertaining to "morning aural joy" [in my head I heard "aural morning glory"] Ultimately, I believe the size of my button started all this aurgiastic talk... (peep over here)

Love it, ta! Ahh, political comics. Even Marvel are getting into the game (in Fantastic Four 557). A political epithet, or what?
