It will be a sad day for me if catchy rock songs ever stop bringing a smile. Don't really know what would ever replace the sensation of a new mix of the three chords of eternity. Take The Young Knives for example. Echoing many influences over the last few decades, these sharply dressed geek-rockers would surely be fun to have over for milk and cookies. But watch it, though they may not look the part, there's trouble in store for any would-be hecklers.Their new disc, "Superabundance", is out on the Transgressive label . Formed a decade ago in an attic, their perseverance would appear to be paying off. Three name changes and two labels later, they wrap up their Terra FirmaThe Decision

indie - a bit 'o XTC thru POTUSA...and sticky like honey!
fisty - sorry, it ain't grrls. sometimes I wonder why you don't comment more. I think I know now. Got a code book?
DMDM - It's all right Jeff, the fun is in the write up. And this one became a bit obsessive. To wit...the original file I had of this song was encoded at 48 bits -instead of the usual easy-to-work-with 44 bits. A better sound, but not postable. So, I opened it in Audacity, which would play it - but not make a proper mp3. So, I used Ableton Live to record what Audacity played. Good to go...but no, I could hear jittery instability in the recording - not good enough. So, I switched it, opening the original file in Ableton and recording the sound with Audacity. Finally, a good sounding result that could be compiled to a postable file. After all that, I found the vid on Youtube...shoulda looked there first. I need to get some exercise!!

p.s. the post got cut off a little, it should have ended with this, which I found very humorous (meaning the way their myspace bio ends):
myspace bio with -
"Then in 2004 they released their own demoed album "Nolens Volens" as it looked like no record label would ever had them. Then in 2005 they were got a manager and he tricked Transgressive recirds into signing them. Then it became now and there was rejoicing."
Rejoicing indeed.

Nah I'd comment more but I don't have time lately. I feel bad about that. I'm just terribly busy. I try to post stuff cause if I don't I'll get behind. One day when I have time I want to scour some posts.

Good one Scott. I love catchy tunes that bring a smile. This reminds me of the Wombats. Heard em? Prob heard this at least...
And geez-e-weezie *deadman* ...there's a lot of good music and post's to go through, all while trying to do real tangible things too...it's not even been 24 hours since posted...DANG! I feel pressured...haha! ; )

Oh and Scott...I think Fisty was responding on your line "It will be a sad day...if catchy rock songs ever stop bringing a smile."
Like catchy rock doesn't go anywhere it just changes clothes...
Or is that me just looking for the bright side of comments...?
Anyhoo, nice intro!

Yeah that's what I meant. Thanks Sunshine. I can be Captain Vague sometimes. I meant it more metaphorically like times change and new styles come around but I don't think rock is going anywhere.

I pretty much got it, just makin' a fun comment, but look a Sigmund and Freud goin' at it!
Thanks for the Wombats SunnyD, I've never really listened to them much but it is very similar...and I lurrvedd that opening guitar riffing!!
Cody - guess that's what fisty meant. Those 3 chords will always be there...

Scott I also have to say that I absolutely love your Beenie and Cecil avatar. My dad got all of the reissues on video in the early 80's and I watched them religiously. Bob Clampett is the shit.

Thanks Sam, a very vivid and influential part of early childhood. The early 60's were the first time kids were left with the digital (ok, well analog) babysitter. B & C were the very genesis, the first model - if you will - of how I would learn to react with the world. Clampett is, as you say. And it was most probably the foundation of my interest in music as well. Sure, there was Super Cecil and little Ace from outer space - but the most memorable ep for me has always been "The Wildman From Wildsville". Carry throught 'till the end, and don't be square baby!!!

It only took me about nine months, but I'm totally on board. "Terra Firma" is wicked catchy.
Come to think of it, I had this same problem last year with The Cribs; I waited far too long to give them a listen and when I did, BOOM! ear candy.
SO much music ...
Hey, ya made me dig this back out so thanks! (cause it wasn't on the iPod)
Now, I'm gonna have to check out them Cribs, aren't I???-
Oh yes, you must. Heh.
