See Doctor Jimmy. He'll fix ya straight up. For somebody special, and anyone needing classic TLC.

  1. zarpex says ??Quadrophenia?? always seemed like one of The Who's lesser works, but I know quite a few people who connect to it deeply. As a fan of The Who, I've noticed that fellow devotees usually agree quite closely on which albums or songs of theirs bear the stamp of genius and which don't, but ??Quadrophenia?? is marzipan. Some people absolutely adore it, and others can't abide it. I fall into the latter camp, but still hold the former in esteem. Perplexed esteem, maybe, but esteem. By the way; what's "TLC"? I usually take it to stand for Tender Loving Care, but that doesn't seem to jibe with the song, or to be something you'd call "classic"...

  2. Bartleby says Phil Daniels who played Jimmy is now a star on East Enders -- Sting won the worst miscast-in-any-role for his Ace Face role - the magazine "The Word" doled out the prizes. I think I'll also need Sister Morphine's assistance to cope with spring fever, if you please.

  3. scotfree says For someone who emotes perplexed esteem, you gotta recognize artistic license to connect spring fever to TLC to a Doctor reference. To add to your analysis, I've never been a huge Who fan. I love a lot of their stuff, adore some of it - but they never quite reached the realm of worship. That said, I do relish a few of their sets, Quadrophenia being one of them (along with Sellout). Could never relate to Tommy at all...the guitarist in my very first band had an alter set up in his basement to that lp...

  4. Wahiawa786 says Ah yes, nothing like firewater to get in the "Hagar the Horrible" mode. If I dig into the dusty LP stacks, "Tommy" will be there, a reminder of my pre-Folk days. "Summer Wine" it isn't, but "The Lusty Month of May" is just over the horizon. Oddly enough, I found the Greasers more interesting than the Mods in the reel "Quadrophenia," especially Jimmy's childhood chum who had been a soldier.
