...maybe they're right. Today, my hometown (well close enough) Cincy Bengals matched up against the favored Baltimore Ravens - and pulled out another win!! They are now 5 - 1 and the only tem in the NFL to have beaten all the teams in their division once. That's all good, but there was additional motivation going on today. Some of you may have seen that the Bengals defensive co-ordinator Mike Zimmer's wife Vikki passed away suddenly last Thursday. The late game half time highlites ended with Coach Lewis presenting the game ball to Zimmer, who made a brief speech of thanks. I don't know how anyone who saw this and could not be moved.
Here's to Vikki, Mike and the team, and anybody who ever just wanted to play football for the coach.

Amen. Sorry to hear about Vikki. Was she ill for awhile? All I heard was she slipped away at age 50. How sad.

I'm neutral on the Bengals, but can't stand the Ravens (I'm a Browns fan, myself, if I have to pick sides in the NFL), so I'll smile at the win, and shed a tear at the loss of a life gone too soon.

Cincinnati Bengals Defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer's 50 year-old wife Vikki Zimmer was found dead in the family's Cincinnati home on Thursday (October 8). Although there are no suspicions of foul play, the cause of death is still undetermined pending autopsy results.

"We are stunned and saddened to learn of Vikki's passing," said Bengals president Mike Brown. "She was a warm and popular person in the Bengals family, and our immense respect and affection for Mike makes this especially hard. Our hearts go out to Mike and his family."

"Mike is part of our Bengals family, and we'll support him in every way we can," said Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis. "We will dearly miss Vikki. She was a friend to all of us, and a big supporter of Mike's players. Her thoughtfulness to them in so many ways will also be greatly missed."

Mike and Vikki had been married for 27 years and have three children together. Mike, who is in his second season with the Bengals, was expected to coach the team on Sunday's game against the Ravens in Baltimore (October 11).
