What's For Breakfast Anywayz??

Posted about 4 years ago
My culinary specialty 'round here is the breakfast fare. I can make killer sausage biscuits and gravy, pancakes, french toast, and I've recently mastered crepes. But, the specialty on the menu is always my herb and cheese omlettes. The ingredients here are pretty simple. A couple eggs per appetite. A dusting of garlic powder and a sprinkling of dehydrated onions (of course, freshly pressed garlic and chopped onion are preferrable, but c'mon - it's 8 a.m.!!!)Black pepper and salt. Lately, I've been sprinkling in some Tastefully Simple "Garlic Garlic" and "Spinach and Herb Mix" but a generous smattering of oregano will do just fine. And now, the secret ingredient - poppy seeds!! (ssshhhh!!!) Dunno what it is, but they add a special flavor. Stir all your fixins' briskly with a fork and pour into a grased skillet. A few bacon bits are great as well.Flip just before it starts to brown. Don't overcook, keep it moist like McDonald's eggs. (thanks Ronald)Sprinkle with grated colby cheese and a few freshly sliced onion rings (you're awake by now!)and you're favorite hot sauce and beverage. Enjoy!!

  2. contrabandwidth says Looks delish. My mother made what was called a Brunch Casserole for xmas breakfast, that I have yet to attempt. Breakfast is my favorite meal around the house, so I usually attempt it, but I might have to attempt your recipe. You remind me that I need a good omellete/crepe pan. Sad part about renting is I am relegated to an electric range - I loathe electric ranges. Now I want a do over of breakfast...

  5. scotfree says Ivy - thanks! Where's that chili recipe? I'm always up for a good bowl, and the super bowl is getting closer. contr - I also have/hate electric ranges. One thing I've learned in dealing with them is whatever temp you are inclined to set it at to start cooking, turn it down two notches B - sorry man, I went back for seconds!! gymp - it tastes good! My digital camera got broke awhile back, but I am finding my cell phone pics are just right for web posting!!

  6. ivylander says Lemme see if I can dig it up. We keep all our printed-out recipes in a big, messy folder on top of the microwave....
