WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Warrantee (...or, How the Woolworth's Helped Shape My Musical Destiny)

Posted 9 months ago

circa: 1972 (oops, time machine stripped a gear)

Rick and I were rifling through one of the cut-out vinyl bins that were always in the middle aisle.
Me, "Hey, this looks interesting..."
Rick grabs the album,"Captain Beefheart? Who the hell is that? He looks insane, and that cover looks like they clipped it from the Sunday paper."
Me, "Yeah, but he's got this...uhh...glint in his eye, you know?"
Rick, "Glint? That's 'cause he's waiting for a straightjacket."
Me, "Well, it's only 99 cents..."
Rick, "That you'll wish you had back..."
Me, "This is the same place I got those Stooges records!"
Rick, "Exactly..."
Oh, Ricky...

    Warrior in Woolworth's
    Humble he may seem
    Behind his servile innocence
    He plots and he schemes...

    Associations, is all.  Carry on...

Wooolworths cut outs ruled.  Roxy Music, Lou Reed, Steve Winwood's first solo record, Brinsley Schwartz . . . they didn't play this stuff on KQ92 in Minneapolis!

There is speculation that the captn is ill however, no one knows for sure. He has not made music since 1982 however he has made paintings that like his music are very interesting.

    diggin' the syncronicity BX!

    or, Knifey, paint in profundity!

or anywhere in Dayton funoka, but it was a gold mine, eh?

well, Rick was preoccupied by 2 many girls (the bastard). I heard ya crying in the louvre, Chris, but was just 2 focused on the cut-outs...sorry!

as cpetersonart says Bill, CB appears to be alive, at least according to:
    http://www.deadoraliveinfo.com/

a peek at his wiki says he figured he could make more money painting, looks like he was right.
