Guess they coulda toned the "heavy" down a little on the chorus, but a pretty spirited cover. Opinions?

....This a whole lot better then some versions I've heard. This song is so deeply ingrained in our culture its amazing. Such timeless anger, so well expressed, can be "transplanted" into any gernre without losing it's considerable punch. Actually....as covers of this song go....this is quite good.
Hmmm....not *totally* convinced by the Wailing Souls when they move closer to the "rock" template. Tend to think it's probably a beter cover if you're not familiar with their Jamaican tunes than if you are.
I'd still go for The Wailers' semi-cover on the Coxsone label in 1966 - I thought I'd posted it here but I can't seem to find it yet. Actually, if memory serves, it might have been one of a small number of posts that vanished during the "lost weekend" last May, when the MOG monster ate about 36 hours of posts, and the red buttons all stopped working, so I might have to try and re-post
@ deadmandeadman - careful there brother, you're almost being positive :-)
@scotty - must be dylan cover Sunday - nice one!
I like it to dmdm, it's got that "How Bizzare" groove goin' ahn, I just think the tropical hip-hop could have extended throughout...in other words "turn down the fuzz!" ... you've corrupted me, yessir...
yes baudolino, that's where the start to lose me. somehow, I seem to remember that cover, but I don't believe I preserved it. A repost would be most MOGificial!

You have some big balls up there Scot @;P Diggin' this cover alot, which is saying alot since I'm not a big reggae fan per se(or a Dylan fan for that matter). But this translates well.
So nice - and fits right alongside the rest of the day's Dylanmania. I'm with Baudolino on this one. I'd suggest that it's only reggae by its performers' pedigree. But screw labels. Good is good.
