King of Sunday Under Covers! Golden Earring fly and fly and fly and fly and fly and fly as they cover The Byrds

Posted over 2 years ago
Well, OK, maybe not "King" as in best or anything, but maybe the longest cover tune yet on mog. This faboolus cover of "Eight Miles High" clocks in at 18:59. Sorry, but I had to scrunch it down to 96 kbps to make the 15 mb limit. (Guess I coulda split it in two like an old eight track tape??)

  2. brendanhalpin says Um, is it supposed to sound like Alvin and the Chipmunks? Or is that an artifact of the compressing process? Either way, it's pretty trippy. Golden Earring is responsible for one of my favorite misheard lyrics. In "Twilight Zone," where he says, "This is a madhouse/feels like being cloned", I always thought it was "This is a madhouse/feels like being blown". And I remember hearing that and not really understanding why that was supposed to be a bad thing...

  3. scotfree says hhmmm...deep exploration into the technology covered by patents owned by the Fraunhofer Society has revealed this little bit of unheralded coding: IF LAME TIME LIMIT/NO EXPIRE/ IS GREATER THAN 18:00, THEN MP3 ENCODING = HARMLESS RODENT SUBLOOP 00300 who knew?? after losing any enthusiasm for this track, here it is at a far superior encoding rate (192 kbps) and split eight track tape style. After all it is EIGHT MILES HIGH. Time for another shot of scotch.
