Since I've visited this site, that is.
I haven't been to many shows lately, but ended up seeing Nada Surf in San Diego this past March, which was quite an adventure. The next band on my list to see is Squeeze.
Now, let me tell you about Squeeze..
I grew up a youngster in the 80s with MTV in my face. I was a toe-tapping toddler (how's that for alliteration?). If I found something catchy I'd take an immediate liking to it. My first introduction to Squeeze was "Hourglass". I remember this video because it was basically like a trip down the rabbit hole, or a result of ingesting too much cough syrup. My brother had the 45 and I'd play the poor thing to death. A few years passed (okay fine, a decade), and I was a real goer for lyrics and melody, after the obvious help from Lennon/McCartney. Soon, I was head over heels for Tilbrook, Argent, Lowe, and Costello. Ever since then, I've been a real stickler for arrangements. I'm open to suggestions, but I don't think there are any great songwriters out there nowadays that can even compare to someone like Glenn Tilbrook.

Do you have any cure-alls for the winter blues? I've been listening to rags and chamber pop all day today, drinking copious amounts of chamomile sweet apple tea, and reading historical fiction.

i never thought i'd hear a studio version of this song, but lo and behold.. these blokes keep surprising me in such fantastic ways. all i can say is, keep it comin'.
