this is about as cool as it gets: http://www.nytimes.com/2006/06/16/arts/music/16prince.web.html?8dpc=&_r=1&adxnnl=1&oref=login&adxnnlx=1150492838-KXCdrvEqaPxZlCL5WWJl9g
i especially like this part:"Then came the artist himself, sharply attired in a white suit, a black shirt and sunglasses, and clutching a hollow-bodied Ibanez guitar. He played just one number: “Get on the Boat,” ... Prince sang some upbeat lyrics extolling racial harmony, and took a fleeting solo on guitar. Then he struck a dramatic pose, tossed his guitar pick and a white towel into the audience, and strutted off. He had been onstage for exactly seven minutes."
sometimes you just want to be entertained, you know?

i can't say i like the whole album but "weed party" is in heavy rotation. the best part about playing this song at work is that it inspires kesten to come by and play air guitar and make his air guitar face.
i'm normally not a big fan of office-work-air-band but he's got talent. the right balance between theatrics and earnestness.

Nice. You seeing their show in a couple of weeks? Hey - what's in your music collection?
i have to say, while I think that on first few listens weed party was the standout track, the rest of the album has really grown on me. i like the fullness of the guitar sound, particularly on The Great Salt Lake and The Funeral. On the latter, I get chills when the full band comes in after the voice/plucked guitar/strings intro. Like, whoa.

it's french pop music, it should be really bad but it isn't. instead it's really good.

Prince did that one time when my old band Blanket was playing at the Stork Club. It was rad, but we had to cut our set short by one song. I also had to give him one of my drink tickets and a 5% take of the door.
did he invite you back to his pad and you ended up playing basketball against him and his crew and then he made pancakes?
