WE DO THE MASHED POTATO AND THE FUNKY CHICKEN

Can you feel the Love?

We all have them: guilty pleasures. Albums by artists that, at first glance, seem not to fit anywhere in our collection but we have some kind of sentimental value attached to the fluff contained within. Here's one of mine:For some reason, I like to return to Miss Jennifer Love Hewitt's second album every once in a while. It's probably because I'm reminiscing about my teenage years in high school, when some of my favortite movies were "Can't Hardly Wait" and "She's All That." It's also ironic to me that Jennifer Love Hewitt has a really good voice and could probably out sing most of the teeny boppers out there, but she still chooses to act rather than concentrate on her musical career.Yes, her third album "Barenaked" might have enjoyed some success and the album was produced by Meredith Brooks and featured Jennifer's own songs, but I still like the pop-R&B of her self titled second album more. It's a good way to rest the ears before getting back to real music.

  2. samuraijohnny says Jess, you've lost me. Did I write something offensive? If I did, I apologize. I was simply trying to share one of the records that I've held on to over the years and still listen to for some odd reason. As stated already, I got it in high school when my musical tastes were very much hormone driven (although I did get into jazz at the time, since I was taking jazz sax lessons). For the record, I DO think Jennifer Love Hewitt has musical talent and I implied in my post that she could do well to develop that talent further. I also think she relies too much on her looks when it comes to her career choices.
