My CDs Stolen

Posted almost 5 years ago
Wednesday night I went to Sokol Underground in Omaha, NE, which I'd say is the main non-arena venue of the city, and it happens to be located in a sketchy area. My friend Tara and I were going to have a good time havin' a few drinks accompanied by some rock. Psychostick was headliner, Bloodcow was direct support, and Idle Apathy was opening. I thought it would be fun to rock out to the song BEER!!!!, the only Psychostick song I know, but I really went cuz I wanted to check out Bloodcow from Omaha.I drove, and when we got to the venue, the parking lot was full, as always. It's a tiny-ass lot that holds about 25 cars max, and that's probably pushing it. When there are more established acts there (i.e. LoG, Machine Head, Trivium, & Gojira tour), there are cars lined up and down every street in the area. This wasn't as big of a show, so I got a fairly close spot a block away on the side of the road, where there were several other cars parked. I got parked and Tara was stuffing beers in her pants and shirt to sneak them in, haha... She had about 6 on her. I grabbed my phone, camera, and car key, and stuck my purse on the floor in front of the passenger seat, along with my two cases of CDs.We went in, paid, and got through with our smuggled beverages. Idle Apathy was a few songs into their set. We rocked out and the show is a story in itself. It was an awesome time. This night actually has a few stories packed in it (hilarious/awesome ones, minus the robbery).Fast forward to after the show, we learned that my car had gotten broken into. The rear passenger window was busted out and there was glass everywhere. FUCK THAT. My two CD cases were gone, my purse (keys, wallet, money, ID, debit card, other cards, etc), my packed overnight bag (clothes and everything you take to spend the night somewhere), my winter coat, and Tara's credit & debit cards and college ID.Tara called 911 and got an *answering machine*. They actually called her back at 7:30 the next morning and left her a voicemail saying they got her message and they'd call her back. What the hell is this? But the cops eventually came and they didn't give a shit. They took my information and left. Okay... So we left too. And we did get our credit/debit cards canceled. This strengthens my hate for humans (not _all_, of course). At least the three bands there gave me their CDs for free ( which, I want to pay them, cuz we all know a lot of bands have a hard time supporting themselves on the road.) There were four CDs left in my car that weren't in the two cases... The new Shadows Fall, Black Stone Cherry, and two turd CDs for Music Appreciation.Grrrrrr.. I'll get these fuckers. But y'know, I can't be too upset cuz it is all material possessions that can be bought again (with a lot of $ :( ) and all that. The music is the worst to part with, though...

  1. Iren says That sucks... sorry, crap like that happens all too often... it makes you not want to trust anyone... as for replacing stuff... you might want to check with your insurance company and credit card company to see if they cover any of the losses...

  3. sam9muhr says Ah yes. My ma just decided to tell me a little while ago (three days later:-p) that homeowner's insurance will cover everything that got stolen, as long as there's a police report. Ahhh what a relief.

  4. sam9muhr says Ah, Halfman, I accidentally skipped over your comment. I don't know what the heck is up with the 911 deal... Calling 911 is kind of for emergencies, not to leave messages and to be called back later... My friend saw on the news that 10-20 cars were broken into in that area that night. So it was payday for those bastards, I guess. Thanks for havin' my back! :)

  6. Iren says cool for you.....if I may share a little trick we used when parking for shows in Detroit back in the day... get a small stack of what ever free local paper is around (most towns have some sort of music rag or what ever) and leave them in the car...if you have to leave something in the car while in a show just throw the papers over top of what ever you have left... never had an issue with the cars getting broken into with that trick....

  12. sam9muhr says Man, you must have been pissed off to have all those CDs stolen! Ahh, well I get what ya mean. Kill. Exactly. Get up, get up, get up, come on get down. 911 is a joke in your town! -Wow, I found that out firsthand. Never seen the video/heard the song, so I might have to show this to my friend Tara (who called 911).
