So, while I was ordering some cheap-ass, used textbooks online at Amazon.com, I decided to treat myself with a few other things (also used, from sellers on Amazon). To justify, I saved a lot of money by not buying from the school bookstore. - 2 textbooks that probably no-one cares about.- CD: *"Ace of Spades" by Motorhead* ... $5.69(I know, it's about damn time! Shout-out to Universalis.)- Book: *"Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: Savage Journey to the Heart of the American Dream" by Hunter S. Thompson* ... Paperback ... $6.61(Saw the movie and thought it was the funniest and most entertaining thing ever. Finally got around to getting the book, and will get to reading it sometime or other. Oh, and also, the seller says that there's a dedication on it that could have been written by the author. I don't think I believe it, but I'm interested in what it says and all.)- Book: *"Sound of the Beast: The Complete Headbanging History of Heavy Metal" by Ian Christe* ... Paperback ... $3.95(Been interested in this book for a while. Should be very informative and entertaining.)- Book: *"The Long Hard Road Out of Hell" by Marilyn Manson* ... Paperback ... $8.15(Heard it was a good book, and Manson is a curious, um, thing. He interests me.)I'm excited. (And I hope I got all the right stuff for my classes :-S)

  13. sam9muhr says RGM, I'd probably freak out (in joy) if it were Geezer... Lemon - Have you seen the movie or anything? It's _hilarious_. Johnny Depp and some other fellas and ladies... I love it. I don't know which book I'd read first. Probably the first one that comes in the mail. Tony - Awesome that you've read all three.. What a ko-ink-e-dink. "Frugal and tasteful"... I like that.

  15. jbrow103 says Fear & Loathing is one of the greatest fiction novels I have ever read. I hope this opens the door to hallucinatory drugs/wonderous creativity of Hunter S. Thompson, as it definately did for me. The book on the history of heavy metal also sounds very interesting. worddddd up girl

  18. wgraham76 says I read Sounds of the Beast. Great book. Hope you like Metallica, b/c they pop up ALOT. Fear and Loathing is a classic. So is Ace of Spades. I haven't read the Manson book, but the person who co-wrote it with him, also co-wrote "Motley Crue's The Dirt" which is, without question, an extraordinary book. The man who directed the Borat movie will be directing the movie.

  19. sam9muhr says Oh, I should add that to my "to read" list, too! I read Fear and Loathing and the Manson book. I got about 1/4 into Sounds of the Beast, but then I started getting a lot of schoolwork, so I kind of pushed the pause button on it. =-/ The first two I read were great! I especially couldn't put down Manson's book. It's a very interesting read, fan or not.
