Shinedown/RobZombie/Godsmack Trip, Pt. 3

Posted over 5 years ago
So, we drove to the venue. Got there and parked. We got all settled and whipped out the vodka and mini bottles of wine as chasers. Haha.. Now, wine is gross! It wasn't bad preceded by vodka, but it was terrible by itself. Ugh. Anyway, we drank in the parking lot with some dudes that were parked next to us. We chit-chatted with them for a bit and bummed some gum off of em. They were pretty cool.We decided to get goin into the show cuz Shinedown was starting, so we drank half of our bottles of wine and poured vodka in with it (yuck). We stuck them in our crotches to get them past security. That was... uncomfortable, haha. Looked like I was concealing a little peter; kept saying that I was a pre-op. =PSo we got back security, but the butthead almost made me leave my belt behind, cuz it had little studs. I'm glad I got to keep it. We made our way down to the *PIT* and whipped the booze out of our pants. We got in there and got right up to the front. We got there toward the last few songs of Shinedown =-/. I wish I woulda seen more of them cuz they kick ass.The pits were so... not pit-like! There was room to move. I liked it because it was easy to get to the front, but I didn't like it because it was less exciting that way. I also liked it because I didn't get all sweaty and gross. So it goes both ways... But I thought that was weird; haven't been in a pit where you could move freely. So, Shinedown wrapped it up, and they began setting up the stage for Rob Zombie. I was getting reaaaallllllllly excited. I fugging love RZ & crew. We finished our drinks at this time. We weren't drunk or anything, just got a little buzz. Happy medium - good deal.It was still in between sets, and I saw Captain Spalding! (The character from House of 1000 Corpses and Devil's Rejects.) Haha, I got a kick out of it. It was just some guy in the pit wearing the Capt. Spalding mask. So.. Justine and I posed with him for a picture =).Waiting wasn't bad, because we talked to a bunch of good shits around us. There were some cool people... Rocked with em.Then it was time for Zombie to come on! Wwhoooooooo!Rob, John 5, Piggy D., and Tommy Clufetos rocked the shit out. It was an awesome show, as always when it comes to these guys.Rob was his normal self, runnin around and doing his ninja-zombie-karate-type dance move thingies. Haha.. I love it. John 5 (guitar) was a crazy ass, makin faces and headbangin and all.Piggy D. (bass) was also kickass, movin around a lot and headbangin. They'd run around and trade places and run past each other and it was pert cool.John 5 had an extended solo in the middle of one of the songs.. Don't remember which one. He is a KICKASS guitarist; so talented. He played with his teeth, threw the guitar in the air, and all that. It was coooooool. There were also scantily clad (female) dancers. That was pretty cool. It reminded me of Zombie's videos when he has girls/his wife dancing. I took quite a few pictures and several videos with my camera. I got some sweet ones. There was also a cameraman filming for an upcoming Zombie tour documentary DVD. I saw it on me once, so I'm keeping my fingies crossed to be on the final cut of the DVD =). I'm pretty sure that Capt. Spalding will be on there; that was pretty cool. I can't wait for the DVD to be released, whether I'm on it or not (fat chance. I was fully clothed =P).So Zombie played for about an hour, which was WAY too short._To be continued..._

  2. HalfManHalfMog says sounds like a lame pit.....by far the craziest pit I have ever seen, was at a Staind concert... yes a Staind concert.. i've been to a Slayer concert, and the pit there was nothing compared to the Staind one... it was kinda freaky.

  3. sam9muhr says Rvnlft - That sucks that you missed the show! It was reaallly sweet. Sorry, dude. Why didn't ya go? Halfdude - That is kinda freaky. Staind vs. Slayer? The crazyest pit I was in was Ozzy, just cuz soo many people were trying to get closer, and it was tighter than hell. Not a lot of moshing, though. Another one was Mudvayne. There was a lot of push moshing. At one point, EVERYBODY fell over and I was standing there in the middle. Haha, it would be funny to see.

  4. HalfManHalfMog says yeah... the Satind concert was crazy, people flying all over the place, fights breaking out....although there was no blood.... Slayer pit, although tamer, has blood, which I guess it what you go to a Slayer concert to see.

  5. sam9muhr says Haha, gotcha. Blood.

  6. Dozen Black Roses says Lol..yeah Ive been to slayer, no mosh pit. Really think its the crowd, plus these days kids think thats what you do at every show, where as when i was going to concerts it totally depended on the music. Anthrax yes, Stained? Hell no if they were playing back then. Anyway Sam ..sounds like a great show. I agree Rob Zombie puts on a hella of a show, Ive seen him several times. Last time was with Godsmack I believe a few years back in Miami, if my memory serves me correctly.

  9. Sethpian says I feel ya on the Ozzy pit thing! I went to Ozzfest this summer, finally getting the chance to him. I figured, "old guy, old songs, lotsa people in their 30's or 40's here to see him, gonna be a mellow crowd." So I walked up to about 15 people back from the stage and staked out my ground. Holy shit was I wrong! Soon as Zack Wylde's guitar started shredding, the whole fucking lawn went "whoomp" into my back. I got pushed up to about 4 people deep from the security fence. Fuck standing, all I could do was try and keep one foot on the ground as the crowd pushed and shoved like a friggin tsunami. and the whole time I'm thinking, "Isn't Ozzy a little old for all this shennanigans?" But I was close enough to catch his water bottle when he tossed it, which was the shizznit. But what a freakin time. Pits opening up all over the place sbehind us so we kept getting squished like a bug. My glasses got kicked, punched and elbowed off my face a dozen times. Next time I go to see Ozzy - contact lenses.

  10. HalfManHalfMog says I hever been to Ozzfest.. to me it's wayyyyyyy overpriced. But to get to Dozen's point... kids nowadays mosh just to mosh, doesn't matetr what the song is, a lot of them go to concert's just to hurt people... plus this song/video doesn't help, AFI.. corrutping the youth: mms://msent.wmod.llnwd.net/a304/o2-orange/msftmsne/Prod/wmv/v9/Video/37/99/53/301539937.wmv

  12. sam9muhr says Seth - That's what I thought about Ozzy's pit, too! I figured, this guy's old, there are lots of old fans - shouldn't be that bad! WRONG. Half - In a way, I think it's overpriced, but then again you do get a full day of music. 9:00-11:00.. It's good shit. I admit that I probably wouldn't go if it weren't for the Ozzman, though. Pimp - Yah! No boobies from me! I like Zombie's latest album, but I can see where people wouldn't, because it's a lot different from the rest of his stuff. I think it's more stripped or somethin than the previous stuff. Less of the industrial-type sound.

  13. ROCKNROLLPIMP1 says i thinky hollweird done made him whimpy :) my favorite to this day is still La Sexorcisto- Devil Music, Vol. 1 i also think it has a lot to do with where (you)(we) are at in tha head space and in relation to life and circumstances beyond an infinite state of being. tis not a BAD album just could be better if *I* was an engineer on it :)

  14. sam9muhr says Haha. If you ever work with a Zombie album, I'm sure it would "rawk." P.S. You better fucking call me if that happens. P.P.S. I hope John 5 and Rob are together forever... <3 heh heh But really, I think they make a good team. John 5 will put his marks on the Zombie style and I will love it.
