Gillian and the Open Road

The weather has been wonderful. I've been sleeping with the windows open again and wearing dresses. I've been waking up in the morning and putting on some Gillian Welch while I get ready for my work day. In the midst of my morning activities, (making lunches, getting two kids dressed and ready for school, making coffee, finishing last night's laundry, feeding the animals) Gillian just makes it all a little easier. Her music makes me feel like I will be on the open road soon, alone in an old, gas-guzzlin' convertible with a suitcase, my guitar and cigarettes. In this daydream the wind is warm, the air is dusty, the company unforgiving and the sun like honey, and it all feels like freedom. Gillian's albums are the best from now until the end of the Summer. Disclaimer: I would never really dream of a life without my beautiful family...In the real world they're all packed in the car with me, sans the cigarettes.
