Saturday Favorites: Chasing 'Amie'

Posted over 2 years ago
1972 was a blockbuster year for music, and among the multiplicity of classics (Ziggy Stardust, Transformer, Harvest, Exile on Main Street, Superfly, The Harder They Come, and eponymous first albums by both Jackson Browne and a post-Garfunkel Paul Simon, among others and excluding Randy Newman), this album tends to get overlooked:Now these guys from Ohio were never hailed as the saviors of American music, and every track isn't a classic, but the sentiment of 'Amie' still rings true for everyone who's ever had to negotiate a romantic crossroads. My other favorite from the PPL is 'Early Morning Riser,' but I can only post one song at a time.

  1. dermahrk says Thanks. Definitely a country-rock classic. If you like this, consider checking out Craig Fuller's other work (He's the lead vocal on Amie), particularly the group American Flyer, whose 2 LPs were re-released on CD fairly recently, or the 1978 LP Fuller/Kaz, that he made with another songwriter, Eric Kaz. Eric is a great songwriter with a terrible voice, unfortunately.
