Now that's weird
I was listening to a bunch (well, for what little he recorded a bunch") of Skip James stuff the other day and was preparing to post when I got side swiped by life and didn't have a chance. Heck, I've even got skip's smiling mug sitting on my desktop in eager anticipation of an upload.
Come to think of it, I sometimes live my life in eager anticipation of an upload, but that's a story for another time.
In any case, Skip James + Bonnie Raitt, how can you go wrong!
Great post, thanks!!
She does a beautiful job with this song. Her guitar arrangement doesn't copy all of James's picking rhythms, but so what?
In the movie Ghost World the middle-aged record collector meets a woman who actually likes Skip James's 1930 recording of this song. Totally implausible, right? Thank God for MOG!
