Last Post/ Born In The USA

Posted almost 4 years ago
I'm staying with a friend in Echo Park L.A. at the moment and it's totally great. I went walking in the hills today, went to karaoke last night (my Meatloaf was second to none, well, second to all actually, but I was drunk so who cares), and got off a bus from Venice in south central on a street with no lighting, apart from the spotlights of the patrolling police cars. Alright!

Anyhow, I just got back from wandering Hollywood and heard someone striking up a karaoke/ singstar version of Born In The USA. I stopped at the gate and listened a minute - it was terrible, and he messed up the "end up like a dog that's been beat too much" line which I like so anyhow, ha ha, bad karaoke we all can enjoy that.

Er, but it's been half an hour now and he's still singing it. Oh dear, he just started again. And I'm getting a bit scared because he's singing really intensely, and think he might be singing Born In The USA as a reference to his right to bear arms its relation to him shooting up the neighbourhood.

Brendan says it sounds like the beginning of the apocalypse. If that's true, I just wanted to say it's been a blast.

See you later. Maybe.

  4. robot-james says hmmm, you're right. That would explain the aggression in his voice. It's morning now and he seems to have stopped. Crisis averted I think. But I won't be sure I'm safe until I get back to London in a couple of days. Safe stabby London!
