Swallow That

Posted over 3 years ago
So someone across th street from me threw out an old rug and it's been sitting there for days now which made me think of Superchunks "Swallow That". For those who don't know Mac wrote the song about a rug that someone had thrown out in front of Lauras house and no one knew where it came from.Spreading outIt could be tarIt could be bloodIt could beNot fluid at allAnd if it helps you sleepAnd if it helps you to get to sleepSwallow thatSwallow that until you're fullYou'll find it trueYou'll find it to be trueThat all you're little deathsAre more imagined than notAnd if it helps you to liveWell if it helps you to stay awakeSwallow thatSwallow that until you rotIt's wrapped and tiedJust like it should beIt's wrapped and tiedEnough to fool ?? meI'm pretty sure there's someone near meIt's just a bodyIt's just a bodyIt's just a bodyIt's just a bodyIt looks without lifeIt looks lifeless enough to meIt's inside outLike a carpet should beWho helped with this oneI mean what brought thisParticularly to the floorThere is always a triggerThings don't just happenThey don't just happenBy themselvesIt's just the windIt's just the hingeIt's not an angry ghostClosing that doorSo I put the song on and the first thing that hit's me is I actually have to turn the volume way up on my system to hear anything. Ahhh good old dynamic range how I have missed you. I miss the days when songs actually had dynamics. Matador in particualr always did an awesome job mastering there albums.Funny how something as silly as something throwing out a rug can make you go back and enjoy a song you have'nt heard in a long time.Meanwhile enjoy the Watery Hands video. One of the best videos ever if you ask me.
