TAKE OFF YOUR SOCKS LEST THEY BE KNOCKED

Fair To Midland brings the energy

Posted about 1 year ago

Last night, I. Was. Blown. A. Way.

Where do I begin? Hmm, maybe when during the second song (I want to say it was "April Fools and Eggmen"), Darroh Sudderth (vocals); climbs up to get to the ceiling, grabs on to one of the pipes, hooks his legs around it, and dangles as he belts out the lyrics. He was basically hanging upside down from the rafters like a spider monkey. I honestly couldn't believe it was even happening. What a way to start!

It was nice to see a variety of people at this show; from the metal kids slam dancing in the pit, to others standing a little ways back swaying to the tunes.

I know I said it before but, Fair To Midland blew me away; and it's partly because at one point he was singing through a small industrial fan. Darroh is a true vocalist with a wide spectrum of range; changing his pitch when you least expect it by, what looked like to be, him squeezing his vocal chords or tugging at his throat. Apart from being a phenomenal vocalist, he and the rest of the band are true stage performers.

I think one of the main things I was most happy about is that I told Alisa that I really wanted to go to this show because I missed them when they came through the last time. She really hadn't heard much from them so I told her to get out one of their CDs and give it a listen. I think she was sold after listening to two songs and she was all about going. She loved everything about their music and performance. We both felt like we didn't get enough music at Warped Tour so, this was the perfect grand finale

I was able to meet Cliff Campbell (guitar) after the show at their merch booth and had him sign their CD.

About halfway through their set though, Darroh mentioned something to the fact that this was their last tour. I'm not sure exactly what that meant. I hope it's not what I think. If it is what I think, I'm glad we were there.

it's nice when a diverse crowd can all get along and enjoy the music like that. the industrial fan singing, hmm, that's a pretty cool trick.
