MUSIC CHATTER AND MATTER

CAN Pauper's Daughter and I

Posted 8 months ago

OK I'm really on here promoting the underdogs most of the time...and this track is a good example of my so-called quest as it comes from an album by the ultra hip kraut rock band CAN, although you won't know it if you go by their "official" site discography. It was disowned by the group, who by this time (1978) were a shadow of their former selves and somehow ended up with the guys who also infiltrated Traffic in the early 70s.

Once again my might iTunes shuffle (which is now 15,678 songs strong) is the primary source for ear surprise these days and this song totally baffled me when it first randomly came on. I'm not sure what is it about it, maybe the vocals, maybe that this guy is singing the Jack And Jill nursery rhyme or maybe just the strange combinations in the song...but it brought me back to being 12 years old making up songs in my head, haha...so I loved it! Hope someone else may appreciate this oddity gem.
