I haven't partaken in any "heady" music in a really long time. I'm not finding it easy to get back into listening to music featuring more actual music than lyrics. That's the price of listening to songs with catchy phrases and synth hooks as their centerpieces [darn you, Ladytron]. It's nice to get back to the basics sometimes.

This original version of Remember Me from The Birthday Massacre features a somber ambiance, angsty lyrics and subtle vocals resigned to hopelessness. I personally prefer this version over the poppy reworked one found on 2007's Walking With Strangers.

Ladytron's coming to my town on 6.10.08. Hopefully they won't cancel, but it's at Czar, a very small vodka bar venue. I wouldn't blame them if they did cancel at the last minute.I'd love to hear this track played live.

Take 5 is the lone standout from Utada Hikaru's latest release Heart Station. It's my favorite out of the bunch, despite its intentional trimming from over 5 minutes to a mere 3:42.
