The unthinkable has just happened.

My 250 GB hard drive that contained my 100+ GB of mp3s has just died. Unrecognizable by Windows or OS X.

No backup.

Ugh.

I feel kinda bad.

I guess I have to start over.

thats really painful, just this morning I bought a new 360GB USB Harddisk for only 110€ because mine starts to make some strange noises. I hope you can rebuild your collection quick!

My 250K crashed a while back -- like you, no backup; luckily, i happened across the DVDs i'd burnt for my ex-wife a while ago and then didn't have her address to send them...

I have a lot less music on here, too -- like about 12 gig or so at this point, so it's okay at the moment.

{neep-neep alert!}

Windows 2000 went Blue Screen of Death on me a little more recently (i suspect that Real Player had something to do with it); the files were all there, it's just that W2K was tits up. I blew away the partition i was experimenting with Linux on and installed a new W2K there, and i still had or could get the installs for my software (benefit - some shareware i'd liked that timed out gave me another 30 days... {grin}), but booting from other than the main partition is suboptimal, so i need to get another drive - 20gig or so - to copy the boot partition to and use as my boot drive...

{end neepery}

I need to start using my backup tape drive.

And i need to get another 250gig (or bigger) drive -- i'm limping along on an 80gig right now...

(And boy howdy i never thought i'd say something like that -- back in '95, when i was doing phone support for NEC computers, we thought that the 2gig drive that shipped in the NEC top-of-the-line desktop was more fabulous than a unicorn's patoot.

(Of course, when i was working at AMI in '91, 40meg was considered huge beyond most mortals' wildest needs...)

Anyone noticed that the chord progression for Radiohead’s I Might Be Wrong is the same as Thom Yorke’s Black Swan? The words seem to be the only thing that is different.

True, I did post it twice deliberately.

I wish the tagging system worked better. For instance, if I tagged the artist as "Thom Yorke, Radiohead" I'd like to be able to click on each artist as a separate link, instead of a bundled link.

No not the same. The general tone of the songs are very simular though.

Even if they do contain some of the same chord progressions, the melodies couldn't be any farther apart, and I still love the song Black Swan all the same. I didn't notice that though so thanks for pointing it out. It is interesting how all Thom says is that he needs to take a break from radiohead, when subconsciously it's all he can think about.
