I'm one of the lucky few who get paid to listen to music.

In a typical day I listen to 100-150 artists I've never heard of before. A handful of records give me a heart attack in the first few moments of listening, and Ilkae was one of them. Teeny tiny songs made of buzzing and whirring. It was my soundtrack when I went to Japan. Read the song titles... they're as good as the songs.

  1. Tyler says so are we talking a heart attack in a good way, or a bad way? basically, staight up, do i want this album?

  2. randomnumbergeneration says Normally, I'd say any kind of heart attack is good (because most of the stuff I listen to i sooooooo bland...). But this album was a stop-what-you're-doing-go-grab-it-off-the-shelf type thing. If you like your IDM kinda poppy but still a little glitchy (Plaid-ish with some Boards of Canada), get it for sure.

  3. lemontwist says Wow, sounds like a killer job. :) What exactly do you do, if you don't mind me asking?

  5. lemontwist says Sweet. Sounds like the kind of job where I'd be constantly tempted to get up and start dancing around. :)

  6. Tyler says back to the matter at hand is this there debut? if not, is this there best? sorry for all the questioning. it's just a bit out of my normal genre selection so i want to make sure i'm getting the right thing before i make my purchase

  7. randomnumbergeneration says i don't think it's their debut, i don't know if it is their best. it's just what i've got. if you're unsure, i'd suggest checking out some clips. myspace and cd baby have several clips. www.myspace.com/ilkae www.cdbaby.com/cd/ilkae

  8. Retic says i would say "Pistachio Island" is their best. this is actually one of my favorite IDM releases...i think of it as Autechre with prettier melodies, if that means anything. another thing - there are 45 tracks total, approximately 1 minute apiece, all beautiful electronic music.
