The Office Of Fair

I've been on a retro musical trip recently for two reasons. Firstly the real lack of anything out there that really captures my interest, but also the need to fit everything musical onto a 60GB Ipod.It is a brilliant space saver! Gone is the pile (or several in my case) of CD's in the corner of the living room. No matter how much you spend on a decent CD rack, it just never fitted into the style. You always hid the CD rack away, were it was out of arms reach. Despite a CD rack being a fantastic way to judge whoever owned it. A quick flick across the titles would (and can) provide hours of conversation. And believe me - I've seen some terrible ones!Check out the fantastic blues duo Doo Rag. They've long since departed the musical spectrum as an existing force, but their superb and distinctive backcatalogue still exists to this day.Unlike most of the obscure bands I enjoy, I did actually have the opportunity to see Doo Rag play in Edinburgh - thanks to the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, who took them on tour. Doo Rag play blues like no one else, on homemade instruments and it went down a real storm with the crowd. They also played a John Peel radio session, live down the telephone..
