First MOG post! Yay.
Okay, so I've always been a really big Damien Rice fan. From the moment I first heard Cannonball, I knew I was in love. Even still, when '9' came out, I didn't get it right away. Don't ask me why, I really don't know. I was just as excited about it as all my other DR-obsessed friends, but for some reason I have a problem actually buying albums. I always just figure why waste my money when I'll just steal someone else's album off iTunes, you know?
Anyway, I've only just now gotten '9' on my iPod. I decided to give it a listen as I was riding to Augusta with the family, and, wow. Can we say my new favorite album? I thought I loved 'O', but that was nothing compared to how I feel about '9'. If I knew it was this amazing, I definitely would have made more of an effort to get it sooner.
I love how...honest (? is this the word I'm looking for..I'm not quite sure) Rice is on this album. Not to say he wasn't honest on 'O', but listening to '9' makes me feel like I'm sitting on Damien's bed having a heart to heart about everything he's feeling - and he's holding nothing back. 'Dogs' is by far my favorite song (with Elephant running a close second, though!) - from the amazing melodies to his jealousy to that beautiful voice, this was the song that really pushed me over the edge as far as loving this album.
Honestly, I think this album is better than 'O'. I can't stop listening to it, and I really don't even mind.
Love always,Lindsey.
