as usual i have neglected mog, so the passion of the musical moment has come and gone, many times since march, so instead of trying to remember all those moments i'm a gonna list some of my bestest shows as of late, in no order of time or fave: Lil Capn Travis - sadly their last for a while, but a couple of times there i was transported without the use of chemical subsance. i love them so
The Nay Says - my kid free two weeks enabled me to see some bands like this that usually play during the weekdays, the naysays rock my socks off in a good old garage way
Ian Moore - it's been way too long since i've seen him and he is truly better than ever.
Ryan Adams - at the Paramount - goose bumps and girlish sighs, and much grabbing of beths arms and her of my knees. he was phenomenal
Year Long Disaster - one of those surprise delights, went to socialize and got blown away by pure rock. the son of Dave Davies fronts this band and talent oozes from him.
So i usually use that word extremely sarcastically, but this time i really mean it! i had a pretty decent SXSW. the first time in years, that i've had a platinum badge and it was good. i had to work for it but my volunteer job is cushy. I didn't actually go out and see as much as in the olden days, but then again i got mostly enough sleep and woke up happy and bright. rambling...on to music. my fave show of the week was Gruff Rhys from Super Furry Animals. he had a girl named lisa with him whos' from a welsh band, and they sat at a table with some random acoutrements, most of which i did not recognize, except the metronome and the glockenspiel. cute fun folky child like music, some in welsh. i lurved it. Also caught my faves Imperial Teen, they NEVER tour anymore, drummer was pregnant and it was hot to see her play. Tunng were interesting, Buzzcocks amazing, i caught the last 3 songs which happen to be, Orgasm Addict, What to I get and Ever Fall in Love... what else could i ask for. Reunited Meat Puppets, they sounded as they should, Cris looked happy. Locals Lil Capn Travis who besides just being amazing, they are really special to me so even tho i can see them anytime, i wouldn't miss em, plus i had no one else for that time slot. Detroit Cobras, drunk again, why oh why, they are so ALMOST there for me as a perfect band. Lions in the Street, 70's o rama rock n roll. really good. That's about all i got, oh yeah the most boring dude Andrew BIrd that every one raved about, and about two songs of crazy Perry Farrel who is crazy. a rock critic, i am not

i am so thrilled to be watching the first season of Dallas on DVD. it's so amazing. first i'm loving how young everyone looks, except miss ellie and jock, they always looked old. and the clothes are brilliant! and Lucy is so bad, and her accent is bad. and bobby and pamela went disco dancing and i almost died laughing as they danced. and JR is so perfectly bad. mostly i'm loving it because i loved it so so much when it was out, watching it with my mom, and talking about it with my friends, i lived in london at the time so it had this element of connecting me to here. so it's a huge huge reminisce

Ryan Adams. definitely goose bumps. With his revitalizing ethereal soul sounds.....and his daring to be a bit different.
good memories.
