Hi friends,

I know I never post on here anymore. For that, I apologize. But, I finally have something post-worthy to share:

Last night I was witness to an amazing feat: a band which can make San Franciscans dance.

The Extraordinaires hail from South Philly, PA and are here to bring you pieces from their rock opera "Ribbons of War" (a tale of seafaring love and the madness that ensues), as well as elements of their newest "Short Stories."

It's been a while since I've experienced such an authentic, creative, and exceptionally musically skilled band, but what really strikes me is their HUGS.

Yep, that's right-- I've only chatted with Jay and Matt over Myspace, not only did they recognize me when I met them in real life, they HUGGED me, about ten times each, and Jay introduced me to his dad. Hi, dad! (They played a song about Jay's grandfather, who came over to the US from Hawaii, not speaking any English, and found himself at a rodeo. He was given a bum horse and competed-- winning the world championship title that very day.)

So, if you need some healing, I highly recommend you swing by Mama Buzz around 7pm tonight. It costs just a donation to the musicians to help them get back to Philly, and you can even pick up copies of their hardbound, hand-painted library-book-style albums Ribbons of War and Short Stories for $15 each.

I just noticed my little section entitled "Shows I'm going to".

I did not go to a single show I wrote there.

Welp, so much for that!!!

I hope you all had fun if you went to those shows?

But seriously, I am going to shows. In fact, I just saw Dr. Abacus, and I saw Hardplace, and I will see BF & JM again, and also Dodo Bird on Thursday. So there.

I have the opposite problem; I find myself going to shows that I don't put on my "shows I'm going to" widget!
