Got a up close and personal experience at the Damien Jurnado show last night. About 30-40 attendees total, many of us sat on the floor about 5 feet away from him. The man has definitely has a talent for song-writing, clever turns of phrase and is a fine musician. I DO wish that he would branch out a bit topically. The guy only writes 'winter' songs. In other words, most of his songs are melancholy, and feel rather emo. I don't think that the type of folk genre he works in is limited to this type of melancholy tone and I really hope he will recognize this at some point. I thoroughly enjoyed what I have heard, but I do think that it will definitely improve his body of music.
