WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

The sadness that never goes away..

Posted about 1 year ago

Well, I just got done listening to the latest Cure single. Huh, I don't know what to say. It was o.k. I guess. While Wild Mood Swings had a few good songs and Bloodflowers was an unbelievable disappointment I really need to here all of 4:13 Dream. I've been a rabid fan for 20 some odd years and there was a time when all I listened to was The Cure, Depeche Mode, Joy Division, Nitzer Ebb, New Order, and The Smiths but all the while Robert and the boys remained my favorite. Never have I been so hesitant to listen to a new album by them then this past one. Couldn't take the disappointment if it really blew hardcore. I've seen them several times, have all studio albums, countless live and import works, books, articles, pictures, and lots of cover songs. They have been difinitive in my musical experimentation thus far in my life I hope all the reviews I'm reading hold true. Please you mopey, eyeliner wearing depress rockers you, don't let me down. Thus, I leave with one of my favorite songs by them, one I've only seen them play live once, M.

Here's the boys circa 1980.

Yeah, I can't say that I am a huge fan. But I always liked the Cure. That feeling of wanting to like the latest but not quite feeling it where it counts - that I can relate to.

I'm a fan, but for some reason I haven't heard the album yet. I thought the latest single was so and so.

I've only heard a few songs from the new one, and while it is better, or rather more Cure-ish, than some of the other recent Cure output I have heard...I still like the first four albums the best! They cannot be beat. "M" is indeed a standout track!

Yeah Marilyn, I agree the first four are best and I even liked The Top and Head On the Door even though the singles from those albums got more popular radio play. Mr. Smith seems to keep the Cure engine chugging along, but I feel that the band isn't experimenting quite as much musically as it did in the past.
