I was listening to random songs by The National tonight, when this one came on. As I was listening to it, I thought, "Gee, I'm sorta in the mood to listen to some Springsteen." I wasn't really paying attention to this song as I was listening to it, and it didn't occur to me right away that deep somewhere in the recesses of my brain I knew that Bruce Springsteen also did a version of that song.

Happy Sunday you glorious moggers you. It's clear blue skies and 75 here in NYC. Whoa! So last week I posted my version of Beethoven's "Fur De Lis" and this week it's The Small Faces "All or Nothing." The October/November issue of Radar Magazine has an article on Eminem and what is becoming his epic rock biopic of a life. Now some of my friends make fun of me for liking Eminem and his repulsive ways. It's only in recent years I've become a fan and a passing one at that.. don't have his albums, never saw his movie. I fucking LOVE Born Ruffians. I got hold of their debut L.P., Red, Yellow & Blue the other day and I'm still grinning. The band, comprising of Luke LaLonde (guitar/vocals), Mitch DeRosier (bass/vocals) and Steve Hamelin (drums), make lovably chirpy guitar music, utilising vocal harmonies, minimal production and sporadic hooting to memorable effect. My boyfriend is back from the New Zealand Music Awards this week. He has been doing some research for a feature in the NME on Cut Off Your Hands. I don't really know much about this band - they are a post-me-leaving-the-country band that I didn't grow up with, and in my heart I like to think "they are no Shihad, they are no Breathe, they are no Weta" but actually, they are pretty awesome, but like lots of New Zealand indie music of recent years, they don't sound 'New Zeala... I've never been a huge reggae fan - not to the extent of hunting and buying oddball or rare material (as i've done and still do with Fairport Convention, Steeleye Span, Richard Thompson, Butch Hancock, Jimmie Dale Gilmore...).
