Metallica took to the stage amidst resounding cheers last night (Wednesday, May 14) at Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles. Below, fan filmed footage of the sold out 2,200 seat venue. The clips gives us a good look at this much smaller, exclusive performance. I know what you're thinking (it's what most people think) 'come on Sturg, Metllica should have broken up 10-15-20 years ago, this post is lame.' OK SURE . You might have a point. But! I think when it's all sa... MORE

"Magic" is the first single off of Robin's upcoming album "Something Else", which will be released in July. What I like about "Magic" and Robin's recent music in general is the classic R&B sound that he's bringing. Today's R&B is so fused with hip hop these days that it's strayed a little bit from the original formula. You can stream the song in either player below.. check it out.... MORE

An old classic Buffalo Springfield tune written by Neil Young that was a B side to their hit For What It's Worth. Richie Furay sang on this but I saw Neil do it solo acoustic a couple of years back at a Bridge show. Do I Have To Come Right Out And Say It?... MORE

So I've posted bout these lads before... as the local Philly band Huffamoose... they had a few ALMOST hits - one was a song called James... such a brilliant song really & another I Wanna Buy You a Ring - used in an ad for J C Penneys... This post is an outgrowth of two things. First was a comment I wrote for a post on Howard Jones, that after reading felt like a post starter more than a comment. It has been reprised here in its entirety. Second inspiration was Blair's often-hilarious Craigslist missed connection musical dedications, which show that your garden-variety "missed the show b/c I was broke" won't work here. No, there's some REAL pain involved. Please don't misunderstand, this is no plea for... MORE

Ever wondered what surf music would sound like when played by WWI Germans who's submarine mistakenly grounded on an island in the South Pacific? Well, wonder no more (and also...don't question historical accuracy, either) for Beachkrieg has arrived! Their self-produced debut CD has been selling well in San Jose, CA and now they share the cover of the alt-weekly Metro newspaper. They play a majority of original surf tunes with a sprinkling of surf standards.... MORE

Is there a more detestable piece of crap in the world of broadcasting than sanctimonious, foul-tempered Repug mouthpiece Bill O’Reilly? Well, maybe pedantic pill-popping pudge Rush Limbaugh or that vile, hate-mongering progeny of a scarecrow and a witch, Ann Coulter. But neither Limbaugh nor Coulter has a shred of the funk that a more youthful Billy Boy displays in the righteous fury of this hot dance mix - newly enhanced by a snappy clip. Who knew he had it in him?... MORE

Portishead just announced that "The Rip" will be the next single released off Third. It's one of my 2 favorite songs on the new album ("Machine Gun" is the other) so I'm thrilled! "The Rip" will be released on June 9th. There's no video yet, but here is the audio via youTube: Check out the description of this video too. Even if you think you've seen every new Portishead video out there, you might find some you haven't seen linked. The list is nuts! I found... MORE
