I tend to avoid local shows. Most of the local bands are trying too hard to be "metalXcore" and most of the kids that go are just scene kids that are too cool for school. Meaning; they're pretentious little pricks. Yesterday, however, was an eye-opening experience. I was invited to go to a show put on by a few bands my friend Dott assured me were "amazing". I have an undying respect for any band that would travel to play a show in a college town...on a Monday night...during summer(meaning NO students).These guys did...and they blew me away. Here's a tune...they remind me so much of Nada Surf...and that's always a good thing.

I've got a headache comin on. I can feel it creeping up my spine and into the base of my skull and making it's home therein. I am overly stressed out with life's constant frustrations. I shouldn't be... ever. This song soothes my nagging headache. I can close my eyes and drift off into the beautiful voice of Gillian Welch and the jangle of the guitar and imagine I'm behind the wheel of that "flat black Ford" and cruising with my wife and kids to some unknown destination... A bit of a reclamation project, as I can't be fuckign bothered to put the whole thing back togther, so this'll be a bit quicker and less precise than before MOG ate it. Bands/Albums I've been feeling a bit of a need to import: PRE - Epic Fits: Great name for an album. I was floored when I read last years Grammy nominations list. Astounded. Gasped a little, just enough for a slight smile to crack. Ledis: Best New Artist. Wow.
