There's been a huge shift in popular music from the '90s to now. It seems as though artists are focusing more on lyrics and letting the music fall second. What's nice about this is that the music exists as a frame around the words. People are now looking for something they can relate to musically and songs that have no meaning but just a catchy hook aren't cutting it anymore. Yay.
