Yeah

Tonight I feel a might more hopeful than I have been lately. I'm not sure if it was discussing the not so distant future with Joel and Greg, and sharing my excitement for what new things our band might do. I just feel big things are possible, if we make the right choices.I was at a concert a couple years ago when I first stumbled upon a band I hand never heard of opening for another band I had never heard of. Fortunately the opening band was much better than the headliner, so I left early. This opening band was called Black Before Red.It was kindof an odd sight to see them take the stage, as they were a tad older in age than most bands I was used to seeing perform, so my expectations were low. I was preparing for some old rocker-wanna-be music, when streams of delightful pop music filled the air. A very tight band, very much in control of their perspective instruments. I bought 2 of their EP's entitled "Spilt Milk Mistake", that night, and it has since become one of my favorite records ever. Time passed and I never saw Black Before Red schedule anymore shows. So, years pass, and all I have is this little gold mine of an EP. Until recently, I stumble across their myspace, and lo' and behold...they're still together, and have just recently commenced playing around town and recording again. So, head over to their myspace and listen to the song "Underneath Gold", and marvel at the simple brilliance of the horn line when it unexpectedly comes in. It's just really simple, very well written pop music. It's great. The other new songs on their myspace have yet to catch me as much as that first song, but we'll see what happens. I wish I could tell you where to buy their old EP, but I can't. Anyways, if there's any justice in the world, they'll soon be playing all around the country and not just a well kept Austin secret.
