WE DO THE MASHED POTATO AND THE FUNKY CHICKEN

RIP Brad Delp

Found dead in his home at 55. One of the great voices of rock 'n' roll is goneIt's too bad Boston kind of lapsed into a second-rate imitation of themselves because for their first two records, they really were an amazing band. And yeah, i know, Tom Scholz gets all the credit, but Brad Delp was an incredible singer. In later years, he fronted a Beatles cover band based in Boston, called Beatlejuice. I saw them once and was blown away. They weren't a cheesy Sgt Pepper-style band; instead it was just five shaggy guys in t-shirts and jeans doing note-for-note recreations of songs from every era of the Beatles, with Delp doing *all* the lead vocals. And doing pitch-perfect imitations of John, Paul, George, and Ringo. It was hard to believe he was the same guy who sang "More Than a Feeling."Anyway, he'll be missed.

  4. Jonh Ingham says More Than A Feeling is a steady play on my house - a great slice of American pop. His voice is the substantial cake on which all those guitars are icing -- sad to hear the news.

  6. rock or death says yeah, TBoom, mine too, as you know. Remember when we used to blast Boston from my stereo freshman year? Brad Delp was one of the vocalists who has most inspired me. Very sad to lose him so young.
