Rough Parade - Blackstrap - Steal Your Horses And Run - 3:58

i haven't got the album yet and am hoping to find it through my trusty Cambodia muzik-hustler over the weekend. what i've heard sound so much like either My Bloody Valentine or The Jesus & Mary Chain, in a good way, which in itself is a good thing. what i only want to know, and do tell me if you know the answer, is if Blackstrap has got its own soul past tall comparisons. otherwise, the shoeonics have been shoeaking my breakfast shoereals.

quick stats: hail from Stockholm, Sweden sophomore album - Steal My Horses And Run - out last 20th May on Tee Pee (US) and Youmakemusic (UK) debut album - Ghost Children (2003) made up of Jonatan Westh (vox, guitar, principal songwriting), Maria Lindén (organ, vox, principal songwriting), David Karlsson (drums), Patrick Alvarsson (guitar), Filiph Antonsson (bass)

The saturated riffs, the deaf drumbeats, the ethereal vocals... I can myself slowly caught up in the Blackstrap of your Saturday saturnine shuffle, Poe.

Really nice, thanks for the links.

Tall comparisons aside, it's an even heat between Frosted Flakes and fresh fruit. Amazing live clip, and quite the contrast to the (I assume) Ms. Linden penned red dots. You rock my Saturday, Ilay...

I may finally learn to love this shoegaze stuff. Great song. Would love to hear about your pusher-man, does he get all the good stuff?

Michael, your comment should be up there instead of my plebeianly put thoughts. hey, have you read Das Parfum / Perfume?

Scott, the amazing live clip is from 2006. based on writeups, they are less hard-edged and more ethereal in the new album. oh, and it's banana nut crunch for me.

dave, i have 2 pusher-men. Boom Boom Room, my digital music pimp, got the good stuff and are pretty fast. i got British Sea Power like a day after it was released. the other is my pirated CD pimp (no apologies).

wait, so you weren't into the whole MBV-era scene back then?

Holy crap! That's monumental!!! Dare I say "more popwise than MBV" - or is that heresy? Thanks for this one, poe.

Pekka definitely nailed it. That TSOOL vibe seems to be seeping into all-things Swede. Nice one, poe (now I need to get my arse in gear and keep up with Saturday posts, bad gmo, bad!).

i hear ya. i hate not reading my friends blogs. it is really hard to delete something that i really do want to read. it sucks, but it has to be done in the light of keeping sane! it can be overwhelming at times, but is necessary when trying to manage ones time. ..unfortunate but necessary.

take care and good luck catching up. :P
