the house where i'm staying received a Khmer Buddhist blessing courtesy of the owners. it lasted from 6am to 12mn of Sunday. truth be told, the advanced committee got busy ritualizing downstairs the night before, their hired hands scurrying about to spiffify the place for what turned out to be a hundred relatives and friends, and their children. i was especially glad to find a spirit house - on the northwest, as prescribed.five monks chanted continuously all morning. it was synchronized so that they took turns resting their voices in two's without thinning out the group-drone. it sent me into a trance that was equal parts prayer and lullaby - i'd have dosed off were it not for flower buds the monks sprinkled around wet - and the effect was hippie overall.it got a tad claustrophobic by lunchtime so i excused myself for some DVD shopping at Russian Market and an all-afternoon affair of barbecue and beer at Northbridge. the wind blew kickassedly in mid-afternoon, us in the gazebo with all these trees and grass and vines, and battery-run speakers plugged into an iPod, bringing me back dutifully to floaty mode.back home, an entire feast of a dinner table awaited me and my party, nearly half the fare cooked with coconut milk and addicting. i've never had so much food on the same day since i've lived in Cambodia. when i awoke the next day, achey and bloated, the house was back in order save for a giant basket of red roses standing on top of the microwave oven, which could not possibly be linked back to me.
lately i'm into circuitry.what it means to be made of you but not enough of you,and i wonder if you can bilocate.is that what i taste, your supernova juice?Bliss by Tori Amos (from To Venus and Back)
