the chronicle of a dearth foretold

Posted over 3 years ago

I am soon to be jobless and that surely calls for the groovable panic of some d&b. I am a little thrilled and also a little scared. More thrilled over the scare than the thrill, if you dig.

This will stop feeling rock n' roll once I run low on internet and rent moneys. Or start re-reading magazines.

Meanwhile I am glass half full about bumming around for 3-6 months.
Taking photos of outside touristy places.
Getting reacquainted with Tank Girl fashion and the starvation diet. (Cue "I Wanna Be a Supermodel". Any Liz Phair song works, too.)
Mogging by candlelight. (Advanced apologies for any statistical hike in romantic MOG posts.)
For that matter, hunger-induced hallucinatory Mogging. Take that, Stanley Kubrick!
Not texting back. Not tipping. Long walks. Long hair. Ah yes, poverty is so trendy.
Finding bags of money under my bed, left behind by a drug lord fleeing in haste. I haven't looked but I've got a good feeling about this.

Joy, joy, joy. The future's so bright... Gasp! My last matchstick! Mommy, I feel cold...

the tracks come from the newest by Belfast's oft remixed Dominick Martin a.k.a. Calibre, the third studio album Overflow (not counting Shelflife) out this year via his own Signature Records.

that was worth the wait. "groovable panic" is a most excellent tag. perfect for showing you just how enjoyable paranoia can be...I just about put "Tank GIrl" on a few days back, but vhs is so old skool. either your sense of humor is kickin' in or you're already trying on the hunger pangs...have a cracker.
really do dig the tunes. that second one sounds verryy like a guy I listen to that went by the name "Copyrighted" and that track at the top is the first acoustic-tinged d&b I've ever heard. nice

Best of luck with the new path that unfolds in front of you.

    *hugs*

Your version of romance is the only one I can stomach, so no worries.

Is drug lord the new sugar daddy? I like that thought, less strings attached! (all puns intended) :)

I hope you don't die, while sewing those wild oats, but I wish that you come close enough to death that it is all worthwhile.  My fear of uncertainty borders on the irrational side of phobia, but I lust so strongly for the thrill of unlikely survival that I envy the adventures you will no doubt abide.

Jeff - i am sure going to need that feisty spirit when i insist to re-connect an unpaid internet account, or try to pay rent with used DVDs. thanks, i enjoy every sandwich, cheesecake, pancake, and creampuff.

Chris - i am hoping to stay for another 2 months or so, try to actually see the Kingdom after being here for 2 years. my working visa isn't up until July, hope that counts even when i am unemployed.

Callisto - i've been there too many times before, myself. it might have something to do with a bigger aversion to commitment. god knows.

Scott - yeah, Calibre is pretty laid back for d&b. ah, the days when Jamie Hewlett was little-known. you've pretty much covered it - ill humor, paranoia, erratic eating hours. also, you forgot bi-polarity.

Anna - how i wish drug lord is the new sugar daddy but he's more of my imagined dweller in my apartment before i moved in. hey, this is Cambodia, it isn't impossible. ;d hugs back, and more candle-lit Mogging!

lak - well, i want your groovable peace of mind.

Matt - it is the near-death (almost-suicide?) i look forward to the most. but when i start painting pointilist, neo-impressionistic starry, starry nights and fixate on my ear, kindly remind me that i am horribly unoriginal.
