12 struck with bangs, bleeps, boogedies. Scales chafed my wrists without pity, equilibrium in my nature, unshakable. I took the day off, took it off and slept through the turn.

It was like waking up to a sky of a marvelous orange and blue that I knew was made that way by fuzz and smoke in the air. Like waking up after the fact.

So I go off course.

Now I am no trier. I am not one to pursue a course of action but, in a momentary surge of activity, I did three things today. Screamed bloody murder. Opted out. Stepped away. It was one such day, neither first nor last, but such.

Sabotage. Divide and conquer.

Anytime this happened, we were quick to exclaim that we died a little or that something inside us died. I think, more accurately, something between us died whereas what we had inside stayed; everpresent, blatant, exposing all the more the brand new absence in between. A gap between teeth, not so much inviting decay but just space that was suddenly there. What to do with.

I told someone over the fourth beer: losing a part of you means being the part of it that remains. On whether or not to be grateful for this, I had to take a raincheck.

Saturday belongs to Smog.

That's a very interesting album title(is that correct or are you being dyslexic today?) haha. This song reminds me of Lou Reed yet w/a far better voice. Not wild about it but that could just be my mood, since I'm tired but can't fall asleep(I fell asleep earlier for an hour & 1/2 though).

We all need days off just to slack off, relax & do nothing at will. . . my fave slacker activity is to lie in bed all day on a w/e day & watch movies on my laptop! I LOVE my bed . . . .

Aug, aw i love Smog. >/ oh well okay. that up there is the correct album title, i'm afraid. Dongs of Sevotion. i have the same fave slacker activity, down to watching movies on the laptop and loving my bed far more than anyone who ever laid in it. (hah!)

now, for the love of, try to get some sleep. my cut-off time is 9 a.m. beyond 9, i am not going to bother to sleep anymore.

Hi Illay.  As usual your enigmatic, dramatic prose leaves me reeling, searching for up & searching for down.  I marvel at your turn of phrase and the soundtrack you provide is perfect for my reverie.  The way you pin complex thoughts to the mat with imaginative use of language is always a stone delight.

Now get some sleep.  (you too August1)

Beds know how to treat us over anyone who's laid in them(other than ourselves). I'm getting sleepy again so I think I'm off to beddy bye again! Liking that Sea & Cake song, nice. Have a great evening & sleep well dear.

Jeff, it is only my 8 pm but thank you. we will have to check what's in your breakfast, the way you do all that reeling. i'm kidding, always glad to "read" you on Saturdays.

Augustusness, sweet dreams to you. i will sleep well much, much later. let me know how the 3D thang turns out, if ever.

is it me or i can't play my own tunes? wheel just keeps turning... ):

hey, they play fine here. you don't need the excuse, rant 'n rock. I rarely get smog here in the shire. sometimes on the super-stagnant summer days they put up the ozone alert, but that jusy means more privacy outside.
feigning bravery, i made a dead-end call yesterday - but left no message at the prompt. see, i'm stuck with room temp anything until i get to "the chair"; and i suspect the visit will produce another gap (the third) by the time it's all over i'll have more to miss.
i forgot last nite, and hot mushrooms=throbbing sensitivity and more pain killers.
i may be reading you wrong, but either way that's the way it hit me. listened to that Orange Can just yesterday, and "Monkey Magic" just washed me away. (hey how long is "Come On Easies"? mine is 2:03, but the transition to "T,he Big Storm" seems kind of odd...)
think (room temp)beers later would make my own smog...I hear the Lou R there but crossed with your Mark K, and S&C make me wanna crawl back in bed.

Rants... my specialty. I usually less refined at them, and usually threatening some sort of thermonuclear detonation. Cool track. Never heard it before. Very laid back... dongs of sevotion... songs of devotion... I love word play. You can't go uphill without going downhill first. ;-)

"I told someone over the fourth beer: losing a part of you means being the part of it that remains"

That is either the most hopeful or the most depressing thing I've ever read.  I'm not sure.  What I am sure of, is that it is beautiful.

Mr. Callahan, I believe, is one of those artists who will be far more appreciated and recognized years and years from now.

His obscurity thus far, though, has been somewhat to our advantage. It's breath-taking to see artists of this caliber in 75-person-capacity venues with one or two simple stagelights--it's about as raw as music comes.

Thanks for finding an excuse for posting this song (or vice versa).

Scott - wish i could say i literally just lost a tooth but i'd be lying. in fact i didn't lose any teeth at all, even figuratively. Come On Easies is 3:18, oopsies, i guess the DL got screwed. should i re-up? nice one on Lou R meets Mark K. i am posting him up on Halloween because no one can sit through him. ;p

Doom - suffice it to say that your music is thermonuclear detonation compared to my rant. i'll get back to your Siltwater post when i have the right time to listen properly. i love word play! aside from noise, i listen to a lot of droney stuff (post rock, slowcore, shoegaze).

Amber - i know, right? i have the exact same sentiment, sis, what a bittersweet pill to swallow. happy thoughts... happy thoughts...

Jeff - too much music, no? they all keep slipping away, never enough time to give one record its due time. sigh.

Mike - for as long as my mug is in MOG, i'll give love to Smog.

Erin - i quite cherish his obscurity myself and i suppose i envy you for having seen him live, especially in the context you so abundantly described. he will be celebrated for years and years to come, no doubt.

good for you, wishing my problem was figurative. if you think of re-upping Come On Easies that'd be great (or use it for mog-post inspir.)come on-scare me.

Scott - certainly i will re-up it. let ya know when. "come on-scare me" - is that a challenge now? ;d

lak - it's my pleasure to read your "senseless drivel", without a doubt.

Doom (Eric, right?) - i'll be sure to do that, would love to. the one i've heard is from Chris I am's "dream" post and i quite dig it. noise and drones = aural bliss.
