It's the tactile thing in a dream that likes to linger while we wake up: nerves, a chill to the bone, something grazing the skin. Less often, it's something aural, a trailing away as we're coming to, a voice we think we know. Later, there will be songs retrieving these events as though they actually happened. Ghost stories. We get them mixed up with real life but for that telling ending, us catching our upturned palms fumbling for something that isn't there.

^ Mistral Moon (Illuminated Version) (More about the music below)

^ Orpheus by Gustav Moreau

The Copenhagen duo Syntaks is unleashing lush ambient electronic goodness / evilness on two counts this year. From Ghostly International (School of Seven Bells, Christopher Willits, Deastro), the two-track Mistral Moon EP prefaces the debut full-length, Ylajali, out November. Syntaks has been the one man party of drummer Jakob Skott (also a Morr Music artist as one-half of krautrock duo Limp) plus the addition of vocalist Anna Cecilia beginning 2009.

Track 1 (first player) tastes like 4AD dream pop and track 2 (second player) tastes like MBV (it reveals itself right around the 0:26 mark and gets going at 1:00 and then 2:50), but melodically ambient.

Aside: I know, I disapprove of superfluous misspellings in band names myself, but I am up for more of what I'm hearing.

Too much information: It appears Ylajali is a character in Norwegian author Knut Hamsun's novel Hunger. I am minorly creepified because I use ilayali and ylai to name things, and thought for sure no one else are so named. Gah.

Both songs are pleasant & quite Cocteau Twinsesque/4ADish. Not heard of this group.

Aug & Dale, i'm glad you two in particular enjoyed these. yes, there's definitely a 4AD influence, and good catch on Cocteau Twins as well. based on what i think the artist is trying to do, the album is potentially going to have some Burial meets MBV action, so i'm looking forward to checking it out.

Doesn't sound very MBVish to me imo, since it's too light & airy. I am going to hunt them down on myspace though so I don't forget them. Thx my illustrious pink linky one!

no, you're right, it generally doesn't. it's just the second track reminds me of Soon or Loomer. anyway, i'm not gonna rave until i hear (and like) more than a couple songs. later, A1! ;d
