    I Might Be Wrong
at 21:20 hours of thirteenth March, a satellite dishrag stationed in Phnom Penh picked up abnormally high registers of Korn and KT Tunstall on YouTube keyword searches for "radiohead cover", thereby resuscitating a cold case: the Secret Order of Radiohead Covers a.k.a. the Order of Unknown Radiohead Coverers.the only lead had been a live recording extracted in Paris in 2006 of four French-born males in a tryst to cover Radiohead. alias: Amnesiac Quartet. footprints vanished due to a lack of any studio evidence but newer sightings place the subjects as not just any Radiohead tribute band but a pseudo-supergroup side project of four accomplished jazz musicians. making music that does not combine but rather networks their histories - straight-up and classical; progressive and experimental; symphonic and on edge.you have a 24/7 window to intercept the next rendezvous before the Wah-Wah-Wah special forces take over. your mission, should you choose to accept it: press play. good luck. this post is self-destructive by nature.k a b o o mon piano, Sébastien Paindestre (Now Blues Quartet, Sébastien Paindestre Trio)on bass, Joachim Florent (D’Jab Trio, Belfin Quartet)on saxophone, Fabrice Theuillon (Magma)on drums, Antoine Paganotti (Magma - vocals, Sébastien Paindestre Trio)(Magma is a French prog-rock band from the '70s and active to date)track on post: I Might Be Wrong - 09:07, the cover that introduced me to the group, live on 26 March 2007 in Fenêtre, Paris. 2. Augusts1 says I'm down for anything Radiohead associated! Great post ilay, liking what I've heard so far as well as the vid. Have you heard the Radiohead reggae tribute album called Radiodread & is reggae covers of the entire "OK Computer" album? There's a page on Mog you can check out "*here*":http://mog.com/music/Easy_Star_All-Stars/Radiodread. It's quite excellent. And any group named after my fave Radiohead album can't be bad at all! Thanks for the headsup. Been wondering where you've been missy!

  3. deadmandeadman says Very interesting. I'm sure Radiohead never envisioned this.

  4. scotfree says I'll keep trying, but some reason I cannot coerce myself to appreciate anything Radiohead. Blasphemy, I know, but blame it on genetics. Or living too close to them damn hillbillies...

  5. Marigold says very interesting Ilay. I enjoyed this well with my morning coffee. I am torn with this type of thing though. The novelty of it is cool, but I always find myself getting bored after a while asking myself if it is better then the original tracks. I doubt it is supposed to be, but you know what I am saying. Cheers to you darling! I hope you have a grand week!

  7. poebegone says Aug, this post made me think about doing another on random Radiohead covers (maybe next weekend, if time permits) and i was sure to include Radiodread in it. so cool you mentioned them, and thanks for the link. glad to discover they've had plenty of mog love. dmdm, you said it. the covers aren't brilliant by any means but i find the music quite refreshing, brave, and a welcome listen. Scott, thanks for the honesty. do you dig jazz, though? i feel these songs stand on their own as good jazz, regardless of the Radiohead reference.

  8. poebegone says Mike, novelty certainly wears off and that's why i never listen to Weird Al Yankovic more than i need to. ;D as i was saying, it is a good listen in itself even if i have never heard Radiohead before. Pat, hah. i like everything about Thai food except the chilis. the sax can be more disciplined and the piano can be less safe, but i am not complaining and do think the bass kicks ass more than anything. dear Trusteds reading this, i have 168 email notifications parked in my inbox and counting. some of them are personal messages from you. BIG SORRY. can't attend to. drowning in work. not exactly back mogging yet. please bear with. (+

  9. scotfree says no need to apologize, totally understand all that work jazz. Oh yeah, jazz, I do love it - though I can't say we're on as intimate of terms as the rock world. There is something that I just don't get about Radiohead. I tried listening to "Kid A" about two weeks ago at a co-worker's urging - but I couldn't even finish. I listened to your track on comment, "Morning Bell", as I was waking up today and it leaves me cold. If you'll indulge a little music theory, I think it is the scale structure that may be characteristc of Radiohead. It seems to be done in chromatic scale, which means all 12 notes in a scale (to simplify in piano speak - all the white and black keys) are utilized. It gives an uneven sound (to my ears). Typical compositions composed in more traditional keys avoid about a third of the notes, and allows for more of a feeling of resolution in melody passages. Anyway, if you haven't dozed off by now, I hope you see I've been thinking about it. Hope the work smooths out for ya! :)

  10. poebegone says Scott, howsya? i can say in all honesty that i didn't doze off 'til the end but did quiver, cry, and pop a migraine pill midway thru. (: um so here are 3 possible reactions to your comment -- 1- wha...? 2- if you're not done trying, try it chronologically next time, starting with The Bends (2nd album), which is structurally the least what you call "cold" i think, followed by Kid A, which was their era of transitioning to the electronic rock that had been in Thom Yorke's veins all along from his DJ-ing days at university. The Bends is my favorite Radiohead album but i do think that pre-Kid A the band made the best music they could for the world and post-Kid A they simply learned to make music for its sake, which is no lesser or greater a feat but just different. if that even makes sense. 3- what?
