dEbruit from paris /late HHT

manufactured in Brittany, shipped to Glasgow, now packaged in Paris, the Franco beatboy known as dÉbruit has been getting the attention lately of shoppers by Isle 73: Electro Hiphop. his crunky funky glitchy product was first marketed in 2006 as the release To Nartik Kef, and will be back in the shelves come March 2008 with the release Coupé Décalé out of Musique Large (Ghislain Poirier) and B.E.A.R. Recordings.as an ardent cart-pusher myself, my only advice is that he quits variously spelling his name, which also appears as DéBruit, among others, because it can’t get any more confusing than this: http://www.myspace.com/dbruit and http://www.myspace.com/debruit - enjoy different tracks uploaded there and there.

Sam, had a feeling 'tis up your alley. you're the F5F mog authority and, true, the newer track (on post) is especially great for a bad hiphop movie.     Bartleby says The breaks are making my body ache. I reel with madness because I almost missed this beat-box boom. I really enjoy both cuts. Thanks for that. If I may try and shed some lights on the wordplay, déBruit is literally "un-noise" but by homophony it can also be "des bruits" as in "various noises" which ultimately is another twist on "débrouille" which is "DYI" or "resourcefulness" in French.

    poebegone says Michael: huh. that's fuckin' awesome, pardon the French. you know how (or not) i am such a hopeless sucker for wordplays of the sort. on the above video, he loops a track where his name is being said - "bruit" is pronounced like "nuit", as in "bwee", and "de" is pronounced like "D", not like "day" (des). i could sit on this 'conspiracy theory' all night. Scott: speaking of shedding, a new mogger who is Romanian found that post recently, lightyears after the fact, and left some comments shedding some light about the song title and the manele genre. in haste i wrote "city" to refer to Romania, which was embarrassing, but it was all well and good.     Bartleby says To add to your conspiracy theory, I didn't hear "nuit" in the video even after a second and third watch. What I heard was "dé" as in "die" (singular of dice) and "bruit" and then a mix of "dé" or was it "day" or perhaps "dais" and "oui" -- randomness and agreement? (PS: I didn't know about Manele - now I'll better than talking about "redneck" or "hillbilly" in other cultures)

The poor lass sounds truly ashamed of the folks responsible for that horrid music of lust and greed. take away all the cultural posturing and it's just a cool tune. your assessment of "hillbilly" is so funny 'cause I live just a few hours north of where that cultural sensibility is full-force and, believe me, there's a LOT of spill over. I'd add, after reading magic00's response, that it sounds like a 50-50 mix of hillbilly and gangsta rap. good God, what have I started?!?!?! I did what I could on the translation, it was funny - when we first went through that I had thrown out all my age-old Romanian notebooks earlier last year. even though I totally respect magic's translation as correct, I think what that sleaze ball Guta is really saying between the lines is "You Love Yourself..." :)

(; on "hillbilly", was that an awkward moment or what? generally i am on the 'misunderstood culture' side of a conversation, especially with someone who assumes that what's common in their country is common worldwide. but in that one, my life-long Americanization reared its ugly head and i was being 'stoopid' to think that a "hillbilly" reference is universal. well, lesson learned. LOL on "a LOT of spill over". after the brief exchange, i had a better idea of manele. her explanation comes close to some of the local Filipino music i know that's very Tom Jones in approach. oops, there goes another non-universal reference.     poebegone says hey, Scott, truth be told, we're a celebrity-obsessed culture and airborne undergarments aren't an unfamiliar sight. ;D i just know that dÉbruit and Ghislain P are from the same label but am not sure about a collaboration myself. that'd be real awesome.
